The Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission and Culture (ACI) has collaborated with the Presbyterian Lay Training Centre to organise two certificate programmes for Christian workers and leaders.

The programmes are Certificate in African Christian Creation Care Studies and Certificate in Christian-Muslim Relations. Both programmes will be delivered in three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.

The maiden edition is being organised for the Northern Sector in Tamale, bringing together selected participants from the Northern and Upper Presbyteries.

Participants are drawn from six denominations: Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Roman Catholic Church, Methodist Church, Church of Pentecost, Assemblies of God and Anglican Church.

The Certificate in African Christian Creation Care Studies is being held from Monday, 14th to Thursday, 17th September 2026, with Rev. Prof. Ebenezer Yaw Blasu (PhD) serving as lecturer.

Welcoming participants and introducing the programme, the Director of the Presbyterian Lay Training Centre, Rev. Jasper Maas, explained the importance of the initiative and its relevance to Christian life and ministry.

The Creation Care programme seeks to help Christians understand their moral responsibility towards the environment and equip them to care for God’s creation within the African cultural context.

It also emphasises the role of the Church in God’s mission to the environment and seeks to equip Christian workers in churches and parachurch organisations to become responsible stewards of the Earth.

The programme recognises that addressing environmental challenges requires not only scientific and technical knowledge but also Christian values, ethics, spirituality and moral responsibility. The collaboration between ACI and the Presbyterian Lay Training Centre provides an important platform for ecumenical learning, Christian formation and engagement with contemporary issues affecting the Church and society.
